South Korean music composer and record executive Bang Si-hyuk are known as the man behind K-pop sensation BTS. He is the founder and CEO of Hybe, the agency that manages the group.
Bang Si-hyuk joined one of South Korea’s biggest entertainment agencies, JYP Entertainment, in 1997. While at JYP, he produced and composed for Rain, Wonder Girls, 2AM, Baek Ji- Young, and more.

Bang Si-hyuk arranged songs for one of the most popular boy bands of the early 2000s g.o.d. His work in the period includes famous songs like “One Candle” and “Road”. During this period Bang’s nose for success earned him the stage name “Hitman”.
He left JYP in 2005 to launch his own company, Big Hit Entertainment. In October 2020, Big Hit entertainment went public and was listed in the KOSPI index. The company’s value soared to 8.38 billion dollars. In March 2021, the company rebranded itself as Hybe.

In Hybe acquired Ithaca Holding, the US record label led by scooter Braun, for 1 billion dollars. The company managed artists such as Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, J Balvin, and more. Acquiring Ithaca is Hybe,s first major foray into the US market.


According to Forbes, Bang’s net worth stands at US 2.9 Billion dollars. The success of the IPO together with Ithaca Holding’s acquisition sent his overall value skyrocketing. Bang Si-hyuk made his debut on Forbes’ Korea Rich List 2021 and was ranked at Number 16.
In 2019, in an interview, Bang said that he draws his inspiration from Amazon’s CEO, Jeff Bezos.


Reportedly Bang is very close to all the members of BTS. Before the label’s IPO, Bang gifted shares of the company to all the BTS members, making each of them multi-millionaires. The company stated that the shares were gifted to strengthen the long-term relationship with the boys and boost their morale. As per the contract, BTS will remain under Bang till 2026.
